There is a collaborative and interdisciplinary team of gastroenterologist, interventional radiologist, surgeons, endocrinologist, and pain management specialist that have created a specialized islet transplantation center at Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital. Our physicians are leading the way in islet transplantation innovation at Packard Children’s Hospital through the IRIS (Interventional Radiology Innovation at Stanford) program, which investigates regenerating and supporting transplanted pancreatic islets with stem cell-based therapies and creating novel bioscaffolds for transplanted pancreatic islets; and the Sellers Laboratory and Clinical Research Group, which investigates new therapeutics for pancreatitis.
